Criminal Records and Housing (H 5760, S 709)

We strongly supported legislation sponsored by the Lieutenant Governor which would limit the circumstances under which housing providers can demand information about a tenant’s past criminal history, and would further restrict the scope of the information that can be considered.

We urged that this Article be amended to expand the state’s “medical parole” statute to be inclusive of LWOP sentences as a matter of compassionate and fiscally responsible policy.
