We supported the repeal of an exemption for domestic workers in state minimum wage laws, noting that its impact is sexist, racially discriminatory, and limiting of the economic mobility of domestic workers.

Building upon the important work of the Reproductive Privacy Act, the Equality in Abortion Coverage Act would have ensured that abortion care is covered by Medicaid and within the health insurance plans of state employees.

We supported this legislation which would have generally prohibited employers from using credit history as a component of the hiring process, noting that it could place unnecessary barriers to individual’s seeking employment.

Domestic workers – a demographic of employees largely comprised of lower-income women of color – are inappropriately exempted from the state’s minimum wage laws. We supported the repeal of this exemption.

In supporting the repeal of a statute which allows for individuals with disabilities to be paid less than minimum wage for their work, we noted the flagrant discriminatory impact of this provision and noted that it could inappropriately limit the economic mobility for individuals with disabilities.

We supported legislation which, since passed, now provides a critical protection against housing discrimination based on a potential tenant’s source of income, an issue which particularly impacts marginalized communities.

This legislation would confront the wealth-based incarceration system by promoting pretrial release of individuals without the requirement of monetary bail.
