Noting that all patients should be treated in a non-discriminatory manner by medical professionals, we supported legislation which will prohibit the denial of appropriate medical care to individuals based on various irrelevant characteristics.

In the interest of proactively and preemptively restricting the use of new technology which could harm communities, we testified in favor of legislation which would have generally barred the use of “robot dogs” by law enforcement.

We urged enactment of a bill which would have provided specific technological privacy protections for students while they are using school-loaned devices.

We opposed legislation which would have expanded the speed camera program in Rhode Island.

We opposed legislation that would have allowed the Attorney General’s health care advocate (HCA) to receive unredacted confidential health care information of individuals without consent.

We strongly supported legislation which would have limited the use of deceptively named “automated license plate reader” cameras that actually have incredibly invasive technological capabilities.

We urged enactment of a bill which would have provided specific technological privacy protections for students using school-loaned devices.

We supported an important piece of technology, privacy, and law enforcement policy which would have prohibited law enforcement agencies from using stingray devices without a court order.

Building upon the important work of the Reproductive Privacy Act, the Equality in Abortion Act would have ensured that abortion care is covered by Medicaid and within the health insurance plans of state employees.
