We supported this bill which would have prevented landlords from inquiring about the immigration status of their tenants or potential tenants.

For individuals in RI on green cards, a conviction of many misdemeanor charges can have a severe and overly punishing – and unexpected – impact. This legislation would have decreased the maximum possible misdemeanor by one day to ensure that such harsh consequences don’t flow from a minor offense.

This bill will ensure the accessibility of higher education to students who have spent a considerable amount of their adolescence in Rhode Island but may not have citizenship status.

This bill would positively prevent landlords from inquiring about the immigration status of their tenants or potential tenants.

This bill would have ensured the accessibility of higher education to students who have spent a considerable amount of their adolescence in Rhode Island but may not have citizenship status.

This legislation would have allowed for one such critical measure, by extending the right to obtain a driver’s licenses to those who are undocumented.

We testified in support of this bill which would have protected certain “sensitive locations” in the community, such as schools and hospitals, from enforcement actions and arrests by federal immigration agents.
