Judicial Nominating Commission Changes (S 2938)

We had no position on a few provisions of the bill, but we expressed our strong support for two parts of the legislation, both designed to promote grater transparency in the Judicial Nominating Commission's activities. Specifically, we support language on Page 3, lines 13-17, which would give members of the public the opportunity to register to speak at a public hearing of the Commission up to 48 hours in advance of the meeting, (a change from the current registration two weeks in advance of the hearing) and another section that would require their meetings to be livestreamed and archived.
