We opposed legislation criminalizes parental actions if they created a “substantial and unjustifiable risk” of serious bodily injury to a child.

We opposed legislation that criminalizes parental actions if they created a “substantial and unjustifiable risk” of serious bodily injury to a child. We noted that the language was so overbroad and vague that it would inevitably encompass entirely innocent parental actions. Unfortunately, this bill passed.
