Public Health Privacy Protection (H 7936)

As an organization that strongly supports protecting the right to healthcare privacy, we noted our appreciate for legislation that would provide for the confidentiality of a variety of personal data gathered by the Department of Health. We noted, however, that there is also a strong public interest in having access to various kinds of de-identifiable health data, and that we were concerned that this legislation may inadvertently keep confidential some of that information that should be public.
