We opposed legislation which would have allowed a court to appoint pro bono attorneys to act as animal advocates in animal cruelty and abuse cases.

We opposed legislation which would have allowed a court to appoint pro bono attorneys to act as animal advocates in animal cruelty and abuse cases, noting that it could undermine the rights of criminal defendants by engaging a second accuser that the defendant would have to defend themselves against. This legislation died in committee.
