We urged amendments to this bill which commendably attempts to establish a pilot program in two high schools to try to increase student attendance through the aggressive provision of supportive services.

Current law allows municipalities to limit the maximum number of unrelated persons who can live together in a dwelling, but of no less than three people. We supported this bill which would increase the limit to five.

We urged caution in trying to quickly control the new world of artificial intelligence with this bill that would regulate electoral communications generated by artificial intelligence, and which would allow politicians to seek injunctions against “deceptive” AI-generated communications.

We opposed this legislation which seeks to allow for the use of “noise violation detection systems” in municipalities in Rhode Island, as we do not believe it appropriately addresses the many practical concerns which accompany this type of technology.

We opposed this legislation which would expand the allowable use for traffic violation detection systems for violations of a state law against the blocking of street intersections.

We urged amendment to a bill addressing telematics systems in cars – which track and gather information such as vehicle location and driver behavior – which is then shared with insurance companies, for example, to set car insurance rates.

We opposed legislation which would allow municipalities to record liens against a person’s property if they failed to pay any municipal fines – including for parking violations or minor offenses like disorderly conduct – within 90 days.
