We supported the repeal of an exemption for domestic workers in state minimum wage laws, noting that its impact is sexist, racially discriminatory, and limiting of the economic mobility of domestic workers.

Domestic workers – a demographic of employees largely comprised of lower-income women of color – are inappropriately exempted from the state’s minimum wage laws. We supported the repeal of this exemption, noting that its impact is sexist, racially discriminatory, and limiting of the economic mobility of domestic workers. This bill passed the House but died in the Senate.
