Workplace Privacy

The legislature enacted an ACLU proposed bill imposing penalties on any employer who videotapes employees in a restroom, locker room, or room designated by an employer for changing clothes. Last year, the Affiliate received a complaint from employees at a local establishment that their employer had installed video surveillance cameras in the employees’ restrooms (purportedly in response to drug concerns). Passage of the legislation sends a clear message against such shocking invasions of privacy.
