We supported this important legislation which updated Rhode Island’s parentage and adoption laws to reflect the diversity of families that live in the state. This bill clears up ambiguities by guaranteeing the right for LGBTQ families to establish parentage in a manner consistent with all other families and would provide clear routes for parentage of children born through assisted reproduction. A similar version of this bill was introduced in the House, H 7541.
