We strongly supported this bill which would not require proof of lawful presence in the United States to obtain a professional or occupational license. Not only would this bill have ensured that individuals are not inappropriately precluded from obtaining licenses based on immigration status, but it would have statutorily guaranteed that Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients may easily enter into a career for which they may have been educated and trained for in-state. This bill died in committee.
