For individuals who are transgender or gender non-conforming, the ability to access private and safe bathroom facilities is critical. We supported this legislation which will require that all newly constructed single-user public bathroom facilities be gender neutral, and thus allow all Rhode Islanders to access bathrooms in a non-stigmatizing manner. Positively, this bill passed and was signed into law.
