The introduction of a prospective employee’s financial information into a hiring decision – which bears no true insight into their abilities – can only serve inappropriate and discriminatory purposes. We supported this legislation which would have generally prohibited employers from using credit history as a component of the hiring process, noting that it could place unnecessary barriers to individual’s seeking employment. Unfortunately, this bill died in committee.
