Collection of Telematics Data (H 7718)

We urged amendment to a bill addressing telematics systems in cars – which track and gather information such as vehicle location and driver behavior – which is then shared with insurance companies, for example, to set car insurance rates. The bill requires a driver to consent to the sharing of such data, but we urged that the legislation be much more specific to ensure that any consent is informed and meaningful.
