Transgender kids deserve to play sports in accordance with their gender identity and should not be precluded from the benefits of teamwork, friendship, and athletic activities based on this protected part of their being. As such, we strongly opposed legislation which seeks to exclude transgender students from participating in organized sports with their gender identity. We argued this bill was stigmatizing, could subject students to extremely inappropriate scrutiny, and furthers dangerous and incorrect notions about the LGBTQ+ community. Transgender students and athletes deserve autonomy, dignity, and meaningful participation in teambuilding activities in the same manner as their peers.
