This is a lawsuit filed by private parties challenging the constitutionality of the Reproductive Privacy Act on the grounds that it violates the Rhode Island Constitution. The ACLU of RI filed a "friend of court" brief challenging the plaintiffs' position. On May 4, 2022, the RI Supreme Court upheld the General Assembly's authority to enact the 2019 law.

UPDATE, 10/11/2022: U.S. Supreme Court denies certiorari, upholding the decision of the RI Supreme Court on the constitutionality of the law.
