2025 Legislative Session – Criminal Justice

Justice-involved individuals are much more likely to report opioid use, and drug overdoses are one of the leading causes of death for individuals who are released from correctional institutions. We support this legislation which would formally codify an ongoing program in our state Department of Corrections which provides medicated assisted treatment for individuals who are incarcerated, noting the positive impact that these programs can have on the health of an incarcerated individual following their sentence. This legislation died in committee.
