Gun Permit Appeals (H 7553)

We noted our concerns with a gun permit denial appeal process established by the proposed legislation. We agreed that fair appeal procedures for gun permit denials are important and that the current scheme is insufficient. Specifically, we argued for a longer timeframe for people who are denied a license to appeal the decision. We also opposed the legislation's effort to keep secret any Superior Court records of a permit denial appeal given that judicial proceedings and records are, for many strong reasons, presumptively public.
