Hunting License Automatic Voter Registration (S 2490, H 7233)

We supported legislation that would allow automatic voter registration for Rhode Islanders applying for hunting and fishing licenses. This legislation would align with the legislation that the General Assembly passed many years ago permitting automatic voter registration, which made registering to vote easy. Allowing voter registration through the hunting and fishing licensing process will strengthen civic engagement and could have the potential to reach Rhode Islanders who might not otherwise encounter voter registration opportunities.
