Currently, RI General Laws state that health coverage should include fertility coverage for married individuals. This year, legislation proposed would ensure that such coverage is extended to individuals who needed it no matter what their marital status is. The belief that only a married couple would seek fertility treatments completely overlooks the reality of today's society in which single women and men choose to have children even if they are single. The bill was heard in the House Corportations Committee during the second week of March.
