We strongly supported legislation which would have bolstered the right to vote at the ACI by requiring the posting of voting rights information in its facilities and the appointment of a “jail voting coordinator” to assist incarcerated voters. Individuals who are incarcerated for a misdemeanor offense, or who are being detained pre-trial, retain their right to vote, and make up a significant portion of the ACI population. Unfortunately, this bill died in committee.
