Residents of Washington D.C. are the only citizens in the democratic world who live in a national capital and do not have equal voting and representation rights. We supported this resolution which would have expressed state solidarity in the campaign for D.C. statehood, noting that it is in line with basic tenets of civil rights, equity, and democratic representation. The resolution died in committee.
