At the request of the Governor’s office of energy resources, the General Assembly also approved legislation exempting from public scrutiny a variety of information collected by that office from fuel suppliers in the state. Although purportedly aimed at protecting proprietary information provided to the office during state emergencies, the ACLU testified that the bill was much more broadly worded than that, and the Access to Public Records Act already contained exemption for such records.
