In April, the ACLU testified in support of comprehensive election reform legislation. This perennial legislation proposed a number of critical amendments to current election practices, including expanding the number of provisional ballots counted and the procedures for recounts. In 2013, the ACLU testified before the House Oversight committee that a number of the issues plaguing the 2012 elections could have been ameliorated if such legislation had been enacted at the time. The legislation failed to receive a committee vote.
