Custodial Interrogation

In another unfortunate civil liberties loss, the House defeated a bill that would have required police to record most interrogations of suspects charged with capital offenses. Designed to eliminate coerced and sometimes false confessions – a problem that has been documented across the country in capital cases – the bill was the bane of many police chiefs in the state who succeeded in its defeat.
